When is worship?

  • Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Don't feel like you need to arrive early to get a seat most members arrive about 9:25 a.m. Worship can also be found on our Facebook page at 9:30am and then shortly following the service on our Youtube channel.

When is Sunday School?

  • Sunday School is following worship so we say 10:15 a.m. Sunday School is for children pre-k through 6th grade. They meet in the basement and their lessons are on the stories in the Bible as well as working on Books of the Bible, Ten Commandments, etc.

Is there fellowship time?

  • Fellowship time happens after worship. There is coffee and snacks. Adults can grab a snack while the children are in Sunday School and converse with one another. The children can grab a snack after Sunday School.

How long is worship?

  • On average our worship services are between 45-60 minutes long.

Are visitors expected to give offering?

  • We do not expect our visitors to give an offering. We appreciate that they have chosen to worship with us and that is enough of an offering. Our offering is taken to help support the church and be sure that the mission of the church can still be carried out through First Lutheran. On occasion will we have special offerings that will be taken for specific purposes such as world hunger, mission trip, etc.

Can I take communion?

  • We welcome all to the table! If you have taken communion in another worshiping community you are welcome to take communion with us as well. All who have been baptized are welcome at the table. Our members receive a first communion in 5th grade, but if you have a child that is younger and has already received communion education let the pastor know so that your child will receive communion. All of those who come to the table will either receive the bread and wine or will receive a blessing.

How does communion work at First Lutheran?

  • Communion is typically done on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. We do communion at the rail. This means that you will be directed by the usher to go forward for communion through the middle aisle and you can kneel or stand at the communion rail to receive the sacrament. After you receive the sacrament stay at the rail until the pastor says a blessing. Then you return to your seat through the outside aisle. Typically we take communion by giving of the bread (wafers) and then you are given a small glass of wine. If you are in need of gluten free inform the pastor.

Are children welcome in worship?

  • Yes Yes Yes Yes!!!! We strongly encourage children to be present in worship. We are told to make a joyful noise (Psalm 100) and children add to that joyful noise. During the school year there is a children's sermon every week. Christ welcomed all the little children and so do we.

How should I dress?

  • We are a very casual congregation. You will see people dressed in all different ways, but the majority are very casual. Jeans are fine. Suits are fine. Dresses are fine. T-shirts are fine. You are welcome to come how you are.

How do I get involved?

  • Great news! If you are ready to get involved in the work of the church beyond just worship let Pastor Brooke know and she will direct you to the right person. We are always looking for new perspectives and new ideas to strengthen and continue our ministry.
